Lord Simon Woolley honoured by de Montfort University Leicester

British Politician, Activist and soon to be Non-Exec Director of Woodford Finance, Lord Simon Woolley, has been awarded an honorary degree and made Doctor of Social Sciences by De Montfort University Leicester [DMU].

Raised in the St Matthew’s council estate in Leicester, Lord Simon Woolley is a true advocate for diversity and equality and has inspired many with his political achievements and commitment to social justice.

Renowned as ‘the people’s University’, De Montfort University Leicester is committed to empowering students, staff, and partners to create a fairer society.

On accepting the honorary award, Lord Woolley said:

"I have a mantra I personally live by and offer as some words of wisdom – it is not where you start from. It is where you go.


A university like De Montfort University can proudly present itself as the people’s university, belonging to everyone and a place in which everyone can excel


I hope that my experience, and accepting the recognition of this wonderful honour, will inspire a new generation at DMU to believe that they can do extraordinary things in the world.”
